One Million Pillowcase Challenge
Our friends at American Patchwork & Quilting asked us to join in their One Million Pillowcase Challenge blog hop! This challenge asks sewers and quilters to use their talents to help those in need by donating pillowcases to local charities. We couldn't wait to participate. Not only is this a great cause (and they just passed the half milion mark!), but it's also a great excuse for us to write an easy pillowcase tutorial!
Pillowcases are some of the easiest decor you can make. And thanks to the awesome free patterns American Patchwork & Quilting has on their website, you'll never run out of ideas. We used the train pillowcase pattern. It may look complicated, but don't worry! It only takes three stitches, a little creative cutting, and an iron. We used the Barcelona collection by Brigitte Heitland for Zen Chic by Moda Fabrics as our fabric. It looks so cute against a plain brown background!
To make an easy pillowcase, see our tutorial here!
When you're done making your pillowcase, consider donating it to this great cause. There is a list of charities here that accept pillowcases. You can also find a fabric shop in your area that collects pillowcases to donate. When you're done donating, record your donation here to help them reach their goal of one million pillowcases!
