Holiday Ruffle Scarf
Ruffle fabric scarves in holiday colors are the perfect Christmas gift! They take 20 minutes to make, so you can easily whip up a bunch for everyone on your list!
• 5/8 yard solid ruffled knit with 2"-wide ruffles
Finished scarf: about 11×83"
Yardages and cutting instructions are based on 42"of usable fabric width.
Measurements include 1⁄4" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.
Cut pieces as follows. Cut strips parallel to the ruffles.
From ruffled knit, cut:
• 2—11×42" strips
1. With wrong sides together (ruffles facing out), align strips along a pair of short edges, making sure ruffles lie in the same direction. Stitch together strips along aligned edges using a scant 1/4" seam to make scarf unit.
2. Fold scarf unit with right sides together (ruffles facing in) along seam. Stitch 1/4" from fold, encasing first seam, to complete scarf.
Tip: For stitching ruffled knit, choose a universal needle suitable for knits and a polyester thread, which consists of filaments that have the same stretch as knit fabrics.
Ruffle Fabric FYI: Ruffled knit fabric works well for making scarves because its raw edges will not fray. Go to rufflefabric.com to order.
